Three staffers of a trade union newspaper abducted

[CPJ New York, February 6, 2007]—Three staff members of Akuna, a bimonthly trade union newspaper, were seized on Monday from the suburbs of Colombo, according to news reports. The men, who are also trade union activists, may be in government custody.

Army accuses three journalists of "terrorism"
8/2/2007
[RSF]Army spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe produced evidence at a press conference in Colombo on 6 February implicating three journalists and trade union activists in planning terrorist acts. Nihal Serasinghe, Lalith Seneviratne and Sisira Priyankara were also accused of collusion with the Tamil Tigers and one officer said they had already carried out attacks but which did not result in casualties.

Kidnap of three journalists with trade union monthly
